What the class entails

Hand Lettering with Tom rebuilds shaky writing into confident script. Core strokes come first with dual-tip brush pens, then a full lowercase alphabet, then a favourite quote lettered onto heavy card for framing.

Tom runs drills like short songs — quick, rhythmic and strangely habit-forming. Expect envelopes, jars and gift tags at home to get the treatment for weeks.

What's included

  • Two dual-tip brush pens in your own starter kit
  • Guideline workbook with stroke drills and alphabets
  • Heavyweight card for your final framed quote
  • Ink samples and layout templates to keep
  • Tea, coffee and afternoon snacks in the studio

Meet your mentor

Tom started as a trade sign-painter; his chalkboards still hang in cafés across town. He treats lettering as rhythm work first and drawing second, and every drill in class follows that beat.

My handwriting is terrible. Will I cope?

Handwriting and lettering are different skills. Lettering is drawing letters slowly, stroke by stroke — neat everyday writing is not required at all.

Left-handed? Any problem?

None. Tom is left-handed himself and teaches grip, angle and paper rotation for both hands from the start.
